In 2003 he reached out to the Village of Hope himself: he was a addict, but completed both the rehabilitation programme and the Serving Leadership Programme. Thereafter he started working for the Village of Hope, first as the manager of its sawmill, then as the programme manager and finally as a Management Board member and CEO. As a leader, he was responsible for running and developing the organisation according to its Statutes, communicating with state and local institutions and donors. For many years Viljam belonged to both the prison committee of Tallinn Prison and the crisis committee of Kernu municipality.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 2007 he attended in studies at the Dunklin Memorial Camp in Florida in the United States. This experience laid the foundations for the Village of Hope programme. In 2008 he attended a seminar given by internationally renowned addictologist Michael Dye in Moscow and gained the qualifications needed to counsel addicts,\u00a0based on the Genesis program.\u00a0<span style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 2009 Viljam graduated from the EKNK School for Deacons.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Viljam supervised the foundation of the Keila Adaptation Centre of the Village of Hope and helped re-establish the EKNK Paldiski congregation. Both organisations are now operating successfully and growing under their current leaders.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Viljam was a founding member of the NGO the Village of Hope. On the 95th anniversary of organised Estonian firefighting in September 2014, the Minister of the Interior and the Director General of the Rescue Board acknowledged Viljam&#8217;s work by awarding him with the Rescue Board&#8217;s medal.\u00a0Since 2019, Viljam Borissenko has been the volunteer rescuer of the H\u00fc\u00fcru Free Will Firedepeartment.<\/p>\n<p>In 2017, Viljam decided to enter Audentes Gymnasium and complete school that had once been left unfinished. He received his high school diploma in the spring of 2020, after which in 2023 he graduated Tallinn University and got Social Work degree (BA). In 2020 Viljam also became a peer counselor at the Creative Room training center, on the basis of the state curriculum. As an peer counselor he was one of the founders of VIVICUM O\u00dc which is providing counseling to addicts.<\/p>\n<p>In the years 2020 \u2013 2022, Viljam Borissenko was a member of the Council of NFCS, and from November 2020 also a member of the board of the NordAN network, which stands for conservative alcohol and drug policy in the Nordic and Baltic countries.<\/p>\n<p>In 2021, Viljam completed a postgraduate course at the University of Tartu P\u00e4rnu College: In-service Training of a Rehabilitation Team Specialist (156 hours, 6 EAP).<\/p>\n<p>From June 2022, Viljam Borissenko have worked as a peer counselor at the addiction treatment center of the Central Hospital of Western Tallinn. In the same year, Viljam also completed an educational internship (120 hours) at Viljandi Hospital&#8217;s Addiction Treatment and Rehabilitation Center. Since working in Village of Hope, Viljam has supported people on the way of recovery &#8211; through various group and individual counseling (including Tallinn Social Work Center, Tallinn Mental Health Center, Tallinn Prison, L\u00e4\u00e4ne-Tallinna Hospital, Tallinn Sober House and other organizations) he has had a provilege to support clients on their way of recovery. Clients have been successful for many years.<\/p>\n<p>Viljam, his wife Liis Borissenko and their daughter are members of the EEKBL Oleviste congregation. In 2015, Viljam and Liis took a Family Recovery course at Dunklin Memorial Camp in Florida in the United States in order to grow on a personal level and gain new experiences. They have run courses on these topics and have offered couples counselling to families in need of help.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><\/div><\/div><!--close column table wrapper.
